Also, and more often up here, called a Fog Rainbow. And yes, we’ve seen them when we’re hill walking in slightly misty weather or low cloud.
Similar to a “Brocken Spectre”, which needs a person in the right place (to give the illusion of a spectre); no, haven’t seen one of those but some of the backpacking folk on here will certainly have seen one.

Just recently, I saw what looked like spiral clouds. After looking more closely,I realised that they were vapour trails from RAF jets performing aerobatic manoeuvres under a clear blue sky.
