Well, are we all suitably UNDERWHELMED by the practice alert that we should all have receive at 3pm today!
On another forum (dog related) a few days ago, there was a scaremongerer (don't you just LOVE social media and the idiots who inhabit it! - NO!!!) who posted all sorts of dire warnings about this alert potentially alarming and distressing our dogs, implying that it would be SO LOUD and of such an INTRUSIVE nature that we may want to separate our dogs/phones from each other to save them from this alert and it's potentially devastating impact on our beloved dogs!
My phone was beside me whilst I watched the BTC motor racing on TV, and I barely heard the alert above the very modest/normal TV noise, and by the time I'd reached out for the phone and opened the case, the siren had finished anyway, and the chatty voice was reading the message aloud, was the dog who was lying at my feet bothered (and she can be bothered by certain noises!), not a bit of it, didn't bat an eyelid at any point!
Not dismissing it's nominal worth, or the Government's efforts to alert us to impending dangers, but pretty much guaranty if I didn't know it was coming I'd have missed it, as phone and me are often separated around the house and the brief and not very loud siren would likely have escaped my attention. As I often don't go anywhere near my phone for many hours on end, I'd likely not be aware of the missed alert for perhaps half a day! - Some alert system!
When the Ruskies lob their nuclear missiles our way, I'm gonna be a pile of ash without a hint of what was in store, no 15 minute warning for me! .... ermmmm, maybe NOT a bad thing!
We were one of the millions who didn't receive it. I was never going to as I turned it off, but wife and daughter were in a local store and nothing for them.
A few in the shop wondered what the heck was going on and thought it was a problem with equipment in the shop. It was also before 3!
Looks to have been successful as Elon Musk's latest rocket venture.
I received mine a minute early at 14:59, with a notification sound that was different to the ones I normally use, in the volume as set on my phone for notifications.
It was still loud enough to startle me and the pets as we had not heard this notification sound before.
There were reports of peeps not getting it, one was down to the phone or software version being too old.

We were ready and waiting. Neither of us received the alarm (on EE and Smarty/3). Guess we are not on the ‘to be saved’ list :-)
Didn't like to be the one to break the news to you, but certain people have been nominated to be 'sacrificed'! How else are the Gov going to know how deadly any threat is!
Think you may find the alert feature can be/is disabled on your phones! ... otherwise, Didn't like to be the one to break the news .....
The operating system on the phones has to be Android 11 or iOS 14.5 or higher in order for the alarm to work, as informed to me via Google.

Got it, sounded like my alarm clock, oh I was so alerted (not). The friend I was with didn’t get it at all.
The tsunami alert for my sister in NZ is a loud klaxon and it’s b— scary, like something out of a sci-fi movie, you certainly don’t ignore it.
I was quite cross - went to visit my daughter at a local event she was doing and left my phone at home by accident! Grrr. No idea whether or not it came through to mine, but it did to hers and several others in the vicinity.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!

I can find the test in the "Emergency Alert History" of my Android phone:
Notifications > Advanced Settings > Wireless Emergency Alerts (right at the bottom) > Emergency Alert History

My sister in law was driving at almost 3-00pm had to stop at traffic lights she wound her window down to listen to people's phones crossing the road, she never heard it,I never had the notification I was in the countryside no 4g or 5g.
I was sitting in a train cab on a Heritage Railway at 1500, waiting for my 1510 departure. I didn't get it, but then I was never going to as I don't have a phone. The guard on the train didn't get it either, and he does have a phone. Speaking to some of the platform staff, some got it and some didn't. My wife was at home and she did get it. It does seem to have been very random as to who got it and who didn't.
