Another year and a simple test and all is well with me.
The last time i did this post a couple of my friends on here failed the prostate test and sorry to say had to be treated for cancer.
Im asking all you women on here to get your man tested and maybe save your mans life.Five mins is all it takes
Come new years eve it will be three years since I had mine whipped out because of the big c, which luckily was caught in good time so I heartily agree with your warning.
Get checked out men, it could save your life, it did me!
Funnily enough I've got an appointment at the Doc's next week due to a lump "down there", but I have been told that as I'm over 50 it is most likely to be a cyst and nothing worse.
The other big killer is bowel cancer. Not a pleasant test to be sure and it is free on the NHS. A simple Do it yourself job, the kit is supplied . The relief when the result pops through the door is worth the little brown jobby on the finger!!!!
I would encourage everyone who is eligible to do the bowel test kit to do the test, I had done 7 which were all clear, I did an 8th one in 2015 and they found cancer, I had part of my bowel removed and now 2 years down the line I have had the camera, ct scan and blood tests and I am still clear, they got mine early, I would implore anyone who gets the card testing kit to do it as it might just save your life.

Glad you’re in the clear, Jeff. My stepdad has prostate cancer - he’s 83 and was diagnosed last year. However, I’m pleased to report that he had an op and meds and he’s still in the clear. The consultant has said that he will more likely die with it, than of it (he recently had a heart attack and a stroke, but amazingly on the mend!)
Him indoors is the same age as me (43) and thanks to his job in pharma, he’s really alert to this and will make sure he gets checked out regularly and knows what to look out for.
LlaniDavis - I’m hoping all is well when you see the GP. X
I was requested to do a Bowel Cancer Test 2 years ago.
The sample I returned was determined to be Positive.
I determined I was taking too much Clopidogrel (Blood Thinner)
I decided to refrain from taking it for a while and gave another sample.
That was OK, but gave another one to be sure, and was clear.
I do wonder if I need another PSA test?
But I'm not keen on being in hospitals.
------------- In the beginning there was darkness.
Then I bought a tent.
I'm not destitute, I'm just poor.
My husband recently had tests for his prostrate. The scans and biopsy were clear but his PSA is so low they can’t use it so he’s got to have another scan in six months so they can keep an eye on things.
Well done highlighting this Jeff, I had my test last year and was clear, but far too many men do not bother with the test or ignore the signs.
Apart from various tests for Cancer, we should all have our Blood pressure and Cholesterol tested regularly, both silent killers.
Well done Jeff, men are idiots for not getting regular check ups, especially over 55, I just cannot understand it when men I know say “Uh, I never go to the Doctor” as if it is something to be proud of and perhaps a little macho. It is stupid!
When I had mine sorted I was told one in eight men will get it which jumps to one in four for gentlemen of African origin, also the risk is that it is a thing that runs in families, so if any of you have a brother or father that had it get yourselves checked out double quick because the earlier it is caught the better the outcome.
Good shout Jeff, us men just tend to ignore issues in this department.
I have an enlarged prostate and have been taking tablets for a few years now but never had a PSA test done due to the issues with inaccurate results.
I have had the "finger" test several times over the years and the tablets generally keep things under control.
