That's the main reason why I do not like to venture out in my van in January and February as the weather can change in a very short time.
The snow on Monday has melted and it rained last night, for the rain to freeze overnight and the grounds were slippery this morning.

Aberdeen Council has declared a “major incident” because of ongoing heavy snow. Rural communities are likely to be cut off, power cuts expected. It’s winter…
Think I preferred the consistent -7 to -5C of past week to the mixed bag of yesterday's thaw - rain - freeze!
I knew it was icy when it was consistently freezing, AND you could clearly see the ice from the residue sleet/snow, but this morning's dog walk was treacherous! Near black ice conditions, the visible ice from sleet/snow had gone to be replaced by that 'glaced' frozen rain with frost on top! Really difficult to tell where was slippery and where wasn't by mere sight. The low sun doesn't reach into dips and shadowed side of lumps and bumps, so they are very icy!
Short dog walk this morning, bit of a 'dash n splash' for the basic essentials only, as really not inclined to do the usual mile and half 'exercise' walk in those conditions - I think an accident was almost certain! When a nimble dog with 4 paws is doing Torvill and Dean, time to quit in my book!
Good job my dog does not mind not being walked regularly, and is a bit of a fair-weather wuss like me!
He came back inside from the snow-covered garden very quickly after his potty breaks, and does not like being wet in the rain!

We’ve had frost not snow, Arran is snow capped against a bright blue sky. The dog does not wear a coat (except her own fur one) & she loves to roll on frosty grass.

If only! Mine's a Border Collie, AND originally came from Scotland, so as tough as old boots, NO weather daunts her, we go on regular 'walkies' no matter what! .... and being a opinionated bossy Collie (if you know Collies, you'll all be going 'Oh yes!' ), makes her displeasure at any missed walk known!
I had Flu (proper Flu, not man-flu! - really laid out by it) before Xmas and she got kicked out in the garden for a week, NOT best pleased!
We were looking after our friend's two dogs over the weekend and it just reminded us of one of the reasons we didn't get another after our last one passed. Going out any more than I absolutely have to at this time of year is definitely out for me! Freezing cold and slippery conditions are to be avoided as much as possible, as the last time I fell over, only a few years ago, I broke my elbow.
Many years ago, we had a dog (think Scooby Doo and you will know what she looked like and and how she behaved). When it started to snow, there was no peace until she had been taken for a walk in the snow, she was just like a child playing in it.
Yes, we're one of those rural communities where we rely of getting to town to shop. After a few days, the main roads were cleared, but not our village!
Yesterday it was bright and clear, and our neighbour helped to dig our car out of the snow so we could get to Tesco, the nearest large shop.
It snowed again overnight and the car is under a fresh load of snow, with little sign of a thaw. Fortunately there have been no power cuts and we have plenty of food and fuel.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
Not been too bad here in Lancs though we have had snow and ice, a change from the usual rain....
A good time to remind folk to make sure they have things in place in case of electric outage. I got OH to bring the suitcase stoves and lanterns to the edge of the loft, also to reconnect the gas in the 'van, which is on the drive.
The last time we had a power cut it was 28 hours long, that was in the new year floods, was that 2015?
