Ours has finally given up the ghost, can anyone recommend one? Free standing, black or dark wood surround, approx. 90cm wide, 70 high, 20 deep, with little shelves at the sides. Not a combined TV stand. We have only had it since 1994, and LV paid for it after a flood.

Ironically, there is now no water in the river, the egrets and heron have gone.

I typed "electric fireplace with shelves" on amazon :-)   

We used to have one of those gas ones with the big cylinder inside it, our jack russel used to burn his bum on it for a past time.

I really dont know whether your tongue is in your cheek or not. The phrase 'had your moneys worth' springs to mind.

And, electric heat is usually dearer than gas. Something to think about if you are counting the coppers.
