Well I have to say I wasn’t expecting that,
the company I work for (I’ve been here for almost 25 years) has just sent this email round
As a business at at at continues to thrive. Overall, our financial results are good against a backdrop of rising inflation, uncertain economic outlook, a supply shortage, the war in Ukraine and other external factors.
However, cost of living increases related to higher inflation have meant difficult times for all of us in 2022. We see these increases when buying products in the supermarket, filling our vehicles with petrol, or simply planning a holiday.
Because of this, and as mentioned during the July Employee Business Update, the at at at has committed to take the following actions to support employees in this time of increased inflation.
These actions are as follows:
1. Every employee will receive a fixed amount increase on your monthly salary commencing August to help tackle current inflationary increases. This increase is applicable to all employees, including apprentices and interns (where legally allowed) but excludes the at at at and regional VPs.
2. We will move our annual Salary Review from April 2023 to January 2023. This means any increases you receive next year will go that bit further.
We are here to support each employee as much as possible. We trust these actions will provide some relief from the recent cost of living increases.
I’ve always known the company I work for is a good one , but this is going the extra mile for it’s employees.
They can only do this if they are making the extra money to start with. Depending on what the company 'sells', they could have made a killing during the pandemic. Our own company nigh on doubled, what were already good previous profits, during 20/21 purely due to the type of goods we sold, and where we sell them. As a result, we also gave ourselves and all our employees a financial 'pat on the back'.
My wife has a very good job with Reckit Benkiser , surprisingly not a well known company though they supply a massive amount of the pharmaceutical products used around the world. Anyway everyone at the company is been given a cost of living bonus of £1,250 to help out in September. A very generous geure
It is good to see there are a number of employers who do consider their staff. Sadly, too many think the staff are there simply to make the owners as much money as they can get. They never realise a business is only as good as the people it employs and if they show only contempt for their staff then they do not get the best out of them.

I worked for a very mean company in the 90s that gave meagre pay rises in Jan, then moved them back to April, then the following year moved them back to Jan again, which meant we had missed an entire year of meagre pay rises.
