Well, we’ve had a great few weeks away this summer so far but this week I started to feel a bit unwell yesterday and after a terrible night, I did a covid test this morning. Positive! I did a second test to make sure and it turned positive within about 10 seconds of dropping my sample onto the test so I guess that is definitive.

I know there is no obligation to test any more and lots of people might not bother but I thought it was the right thing to do and we informed the wardens and packed up and came home. We were on a C&CC site and their policy is that you must leave the site as soon as possible. The wardens were very good and managed to get the 2 nights we had paid for and weren’t going to use, credited to a booking we had for next year so at least we aren’t out of pocket.

One thing to be grateful for is this is the last week of this summers holiday rather than the first week so all we have missed is 2 days!

We had a hideous journey home, it took us 8 hours from Keswick to Liverpool due to a closure on the M6 but we are home now and hopefully a quiet weekend ahead to start getting better.

Oh dear, hope you feel better soon. We have managed to avoid it, unless we were both asymptomatic.

I think you've done very well to avoid it until now. We were extremely careful all the way along but both got it after visiting housebound friends in February. I understand how it must have felt when you first saw the second line; I was positive a day before OH and I couldn't believe it! Fortunately neither of us were really ill with it, although OH had a really bad cough, and I lost my sense of taste/smell. Other than that it was like a bad cold, but we both felt rather tired for a couple of weeks.

As for the M6 today we travelled home from Liverpool today after staying witth friends and saw the warnings about delays between junctions 29-31, so that was really bad luck for you to get stuck in that.

Hope you get better soon!

Hope you feel better soon. I was lucky, I only had a mild dose after a day out in London recently - it would have been a miracle if I'd returned from that unscathed!

We've managed to avoid the 'plague' so far, but both Mrs.L and I are just recovering from "summer colds". Sneezing, runny nose, going through boxes of tissues..

Hope you feel better soon Pixie. You did the right thing testing yourself and coming home straight away. As you say, better it happened towards the end of your hol than at the start.

My husband has just tested positive now too, which is only to be expected, so at least we can both get over it together. So far it has felt like a bad cold but I’m very glad I have been triple jabbed. Hopefully it won’t last too long.

Sounds a similar story to us. We had managed to escape COVID for over two years plus four vaccinations. We were at Ladys Miles campsite in Dawlish when I started to feel unwell and test confirmed I was positive. We on had one day day left of the stay so didn't bother informing the site but just took our selves home, a not very pleasant 6 hour drive. Glad we made that decision as I don't think I would have managed it the next day!!! Margaret tested positive a few days later. Fortunately now both negative. The trouble was on the Sunday we were due to move to the Wells Touring Park in Somerset. As a courtesy I let them know we were unable to make it because of COVID but they showed zero sympathy and said they hoped I had insurance which we don't for UK trips. That was £175 down the drain and it will make me very cautious of paying fully up front for sites in the future, not so bad just the deposit but full payment no.

I’m glad you are both over it now but it’s a shame about losing your money. We were on a C&CC site and although they wouldn’t give us a refund, they did transfer the remaining 2 nights of our stay to a booking we have next year.

The thing is, lots of people are just not testing any more and therefore are unaware or just don’t care that they have covid and continue on regardless. Going home was the right thing to do but I am sure not everyone would have been as considerate as you and some may well have gone to the next site because it was paid for!

We were all ready and packed to go last Friday. We had booked a week at a CC site.Friday morning I woke up feeling full of a cold and coughing. I had Covid so we immediately rang the site and cancelled. A couple of days later my partner cam down with it. No way could we have gone with the way we are feeling, whether we will be charged for three days I’ve no idea.

Sorry to hear that Path20. I am on day 13 now and just starting to feel better. We are still testing positive which is annoying but at least I can see light at the end of the tunnel. It was strange how the symptoms went through different stages. We started with some flu type aches and pains, then a cold and cough. When the cold symptoms subsided we then got a sort throat and ear and now that the sore throat and ear has gone we have some strange joint pains. It’s a really weird one this virus and I am just glad to be triple jabbed.
