I know it’s winter and it’s Scotland but the amount of storms we are getting battered with at present is just dreadful. Can’t ever remember these many in previous years but now it’s like one after the other.
Absolutely fed up with it, freezing and soaking taking the dog out, can’t do my usually outdoor stuff as there is no pleasure in it at all, not to mention the damage it causes.

Sometimes I really want to move to Spain

You definitely have had it worse than us further south.
We are dog sitting for a couple of weeks, we have been enjoying walking her but everywhere is very muddy. A bit breezy when I took her out earlier. I avoided the woods as bits of branch might hit us!
I would have happily moved to southern France but wife not so keen.

It's a bit breezy here in the Scottish Borders, we are in the middle of Storm Dudley with 50+ mph winds. Never mind, tomorrow is forecast to be freezing but sunny then heavy snow on Friday.

We are on a CL in North Cambridgeshire and being battered by Dudley. I feel for everybody in Scotland.

A sugar cube on the beach in Rhodes, Crete or Cyprus would do for me, but unfortunately NO Passports!

Loads of gulls descend onto the playing fields opposite so it does look like a beach.

I'll just have to close my eyes and listen to them squawking.

I feel the same! Totally fed up. Although my husband is retired, I am not, so we can’t just head off in the Caravan whenever we like, I have to book leave ages in advance. I had booked 2 days off this week, Thursday and Friday and we had booked a site up in the Lakes. I have been looking forward to it for so long and was devastated yesterday when we decided it wouldn’t be safe to tow up to the Lakes in an Amber weather warning for wind and had to cancel. To add insult to injury, we lost the deposit on the site.

Every time I book leave the weather turns horrendous. I can put up with the rain but the wind is a deal breaker for me as we had a horrible experience about 10 years ago and I won’t tow if the wind gets to gale force or above.

The wind was so strong that it set off the motion sensor in my van that was parked outside my house surrounded by fences and gates on all sides!

I had disabled the motion sensor for now.

My electric gates would not close properly as they thought wind resistance was obstructions!

Scotland does seem to be getting an unfair battering this winter. My grandsons in their innocence are pining for snow, which we're unlikely to have here on Wirral!

It looks like Storm Eunice will mostly hammer us and further south - no snow, but horrendous winds. Some flooding might occur; there's a flood warning on a Keswick campsite, apparently. I'm not sure my back garden fence is going to survive Eunice... not to mention the greenhouse! One disadvantage of polycarbonate sheets is they can ping out in extreme conditions. I had to rescue a roof panel from the neighbour's garden once.

I'll be tucking away a few plant pots later; my narcissi are just about to come into flower and I don't want them trashed. Hope you all get through Eunice without too much damage, wherever you are!

Not great here in Devon! The temperature has plummeted to below 17c, and the Palm Trees are fluttering around a bit, we even had a couple hours of rain last night! I also considered putting my long trousers on, and putting the flip flops away for a day or two, but decided such drastic action was a bit too radical.

Stay safe. 👍

Well, we were supposed to be in the amber part of storm Dudley last night but it felt more yellow to me. We live near the coast, so we get gales regularly. The Boxing Day gales of over 20 years ago did a lot of damage here, this stormy weather isn’t new.
Glorious sunny day today, slight breeze. Snow with Eunice forecast tomorrow… Haven’t seen snow at sea level for years, but Arran will look fabulous on Saturday.
I need sea & mountains & sunsets in my view, so Spain wouldn’t suit me long term, but the OP could spend our stormy 3 winter months out there, spring 3 months here, back out for the summer months.

One advantage of living where we do is that although we are almost as far from any coast as it is possible to get in Britain, we do generally escape the worst of the weather. It was very windy yesterday evening, and is forecast to be even worse tomorrow, but it is fairly mild and sunny today. I feel for those in the North, as they do get it much worse than we generally do.

How I wish my earlier post was remotely accurate! We, in the South West peninsula, are going to get it BIG time tomorrow. 😳

We are now Red, with gusts to 100mph. We live on quite high ground, so this morning has been spent getting thing’s secured in preparation for the onslaught tomorrow coming from the West/South West…….That’s weather for you!

If anyone is thinking of traveling West…..DONT!

After having lived in the tropics for 43 years, coming to Britain was a bit of a shock to our systems. We can live with the storms etc as they are minor in comparison to a cyclone. One cyclone is one too many!

The Red (highest) alert for wind tomorrow (Fri 18 Feb) is north coast of Cornwall / south coast of Wales - the shores of the entire Severn estuary. Hopefully there won’t be any photos of caravans blowing off sea cliffs.
