When I were a lad just into my teens, all we really had to worry about was nuclear war. Now we also have covid, religious terrorism, cancer, climate change, its difficult to know which is going to get us first.
Death from old age probably aged over 90 will get me first. Having survived covid last Xmas & now vaxxed to the max I have ceased to worry about anything.
With Covid mutating very recently they have named it Omicron and reckon that the jabs we've all had will not protect us from this new variant. This is happening on a global scale so climate change will continue to proceed regardless if human life eventually ceases to exist on the planet. Both global warming and the coronavirus have been created by human interference so it's just a matter of which comes first that determines the end of human life on Earth.

The absolute worst-case scenario is that some plague/virus will wipe out the majority of the human race - isolated pockets/remote (island) communities will survive, but (technological) civilisation will end. This will obviously stop the "human-created" global warming - so that's one problem solved....
As to "Covid" - "Coronaviruses are a group of related RNA viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. In humans and birds, they cause respiratory tract infections that can range from mild to lethal. Mild illnesses in humans include some cases of the common cold (which is also caused by other viruses, predominantly rhinoviruses), while more lethal varieties can cause SARS, MERS and COVID-19. In cows and pigs they cause diarrhea, while in mice they cause hepatitis and encephalomyelitis." - NOT created by human interferance...

Or you could just get run over by a bus.
I’ve had my booster jag, the sun is shining after Storm Arwen and Christmas is coming. As the song says - Whatever will be, will be.
I got into a bad place mentally at the start of Covid & I’m not going back into it. So I won’t be coming back to this thread.
Non of them are going to get me because I dont watch the news or read newspapers.
I realised many years ago that most of the so called news in whatever media is fear orientated, And from my own experiance working overseas, Has very little to do with what is really happening in the world.
I remember a very good South African friend saying that, there is no truth in the news and no news in the truth.
Having spent a great deal of my life in the cold war military we knew the nuclear threat was real, our life expectancy on the front line was not great if it had kicked off. We got on with life and trained for the worst.
I was not too concerned about Covid, it is a threat and doesn't seem to be going away yet.
Had the vaccinations and obeyed the rules, I think we just have to live with it.
I agree over population is a problem, but no politicians are brave enough to bring in measures to reduce it. China had a 2 child policy for a while, but their population has to toe the line.

I don't disregard what you say about viruses in general but when Covid19 escaped from a Chinese wet market or controlled laboratory (whichever the case may be) then the responsibility is at the hands of human interference.

you think you had it bad?
i was an initial monitor for the SST teams.
first bugger in to see how bad it was
still a cushy number though coz we knew we weren`t needed till the third day of TACEVAL
We had to run around in nbc suits for the whole of the exercise, good fun servicing aircraft or freezing your bits off on guard duty.
Good old days
No regrets enjoyed most of my time in the RAF.
