After the recent storms, power cuts, blocked roads etc.... now we have snow! Without power we had no heating except the fire in the lounge and had to rely on the cooker in the campervan for our meals. Thankfully the power was only off for about 30 hours, but we're still experiencing minor outages.
Here is a pic taken outside my front door at 9.45 this morning.

It’s always beautiful to look at , the white stuff.....but a true pain in the backside when ye canny get oot! 30 hours is a long time ! I think the longest we have gone is 18 hours. We have however escaped the power cuts this time but have a wee covering of snow.
I had snow in my part of Wiltshire yesterday, however, it did not settle.

We had a flurry of snow the other night, the distant Pennines looked lovely, but I saw on the news that the M62 lorries were having difficulties, not that far from here.
However, it started snowing here about 2 hours ago and it is now lying thickly. I was in Church, had to drive home, everyone was driving very carefully.
The Boxing Day floods a few years ago we had a 28 hour power cut. We used the camping stove to warm food up, and walked to Church for a warm up and boiled the kettle to fill flasks, they are on a different circuit. The frustrating thing was that different circuits round us came back on sooner, so the end of our street were on long before us.
Friends just outside the village still have no power. They have their own well and filter system, but without power to drive the pumps, they have no water. We gave them containers of fresh water and charged their torches.
They went to town to buy candles and stock up and reported back that ASDA had lost it's roof. The nearby heritage centre was almost totally ruined.
This area holds the record for the highest UK wind speed at sea level of 142 mph.

No snow on Wirral, just some sleety rain this morning. Very cold and damp but not windy any more. There have been quite a lot of trees blown down on Wirral, sadly, but the infernal (well, except for the goldfinches) conifers in the garden backing onto mine have all weathered the storm! the changing room for the football pitches in the local park had the roof ripped off.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
Well we are fortunate to live in what is probably the driest part of the country, so it's no surprise that there is no snow here. Had a bit of drizzle yesterday, and it's COLD, about 2 degrees, but lovely and sunny this morning. Windy yesterday and overnight, but no damage I'm aware of, but then we haven't been out since Friday morning. Nothing visible from here though.

Just a sprinkle of snow at sea level in Ayrshire, gorgeous blue skies today & a beautiful sunset an hour ago: may dip below freezing tonight. Bird feeders topped up & I need to use the planets app to identify the bright white blob up there.

Bird feeders topped up & I used the planets app to identify the bright white blobs up there - Saturn, Jupiter & Venus are close together, time to dig out the binoculars.
