In this world where I dread a utility branded envelope dropping on my doormat, 'cos it almost certainly means they want more money out of me, today was a bit of a shocker, Thames Water want to take £48 pa LESS off me for my waste water charge, and my overall Water Bill has gone down accordingly!
No idea how they worked that out, but I'm not arguing! Only thing I can think of is that I use about half the fresh water supply (metered) than the average house in my area, and I'm in a gnats whasit of the most water efficient properties in the neighbourhood, so obviously I'm not putting so much down the drains as others do. I certainly don't seem to qualify under any waste water reduction rebate scheme.
Today's a good day, someone gave me money back, well, not quite gave it back, but at least they didn't rob me of as much as they could have done!
Are the terms for this reduction that you have to transport your own household waste water down to the river and dispose of it there, as per TW's behaviour?
(Cynic mode on!)

Absolutely rolling on floor laughing at that suggestion for reasons that will nominally totally escape you!
I live 100yds from a park (that I daily walk my dog in!) with a river and tributary running into it, that sadly thanks to Thames Water regularly flows with raw sewage! - Hence the ironic laughter!
TW claim that the sewage overflow is to prevent homes being flooded, but are happy to let it escape WITH THEIR KNOWLEDGE as part of a flood protection scheme into local waterways! They REGULARLY get fined by the Environment Agency for their pollution, but it's stupidly cheaper to pay the petty fines than rebuild the sewer system to overcome the problem and stop it ever happening!
TBH it's not MY sewage that flows into the river, the tributary that get polluted is on the other side of the river, but it's equally objectionable!
Thames Water is an abysmal entity with no shame or principles, but we don't get to pick and chose our water companies! I've little doubt my 'sh*t' does flow into someone's local waterway and ultimately into the Thames which is only a few miles away! Not at all happy about it, but the solution lies in the hands of our totally feckless and no doubt corrupt politicians to rectify!!!!! Thames water should NOT exist as a profit making private entity!
Bridgelayer, your post may have been a little tongue in cheek, but sadly comes far too close to fact for me! My only conciliation is I'm contributing a little less to fat cat salaries and bonuses of the grossly incompetent!

I'm with Yorkshire Water and they are probably one of the lead offenders, but they are run by Les Grenouilles.
