“Four peregrine falcon chicks have hatched in a tower at the University of Glasgow.
Conservation group the Glasgow Peregrine Project noted the new arrivals last week at the Gilbert Scott Tower.
“The birds of prey have nested at the university for around two decades and in 2023, a CCTV camera was installed in a bird nesting box there to enable greater observation of the birds.”
I have been watching Salisbury's and they currently have 4 chicks with lots of feeding activities.
Apparently, Winchester's ? 3 eggs had been kicked out of the nest box sadly.
Nottingham has one egg hatched recently.

As an aside, there’s a falconer at the site we’re on just now, with two Peregrine Falcons in the bell tent with him. They were out all afternoon.
Leeds Uni is my local breeding site. The pair had four eggs and all four fledged this weekend, right at the time people were meeting to view them. Its almost as though they waited for a crowd!
One has been seen this morning on another part of the university, so a good outcome so far this year.
I only follow the Salisbury ones, and 1 out of 4 chicks (all 4 eggs hatched) had fledged yesterday, and the other 3 are expecting to fledge very soon.

To show how fragile life is one of the Leeds fledglings was found today in the Uni grounds. It had been attacked by crows, hit the ground hard, ran across a busy road and was injured, a dislocated caracoid.
Thankfully it was rescued and will be returned in a few weeks once well.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
