I agree. I'm not a Rugby afficionado or supporter of Wales, but it was an absolute pleasure to watch JPR in a long run with the ball. His speed was fantastic. I didn't know he had passed.

I think players such as this guy - with a bit of speed, did so well due to the game having poor defence strategies back in the day. In fact 'Jiffy' Davies said something very similar once whilst reminiscing on telly. He may not have stood out as much nowadays.
I trained at St Marys Paddingon as a nurse when he was a junior Dr. St Mary's was known for it's Welsh rugby players as it was an easy train link to Wales. I knew his brother Phil who also played, who did his A+E experience when I was a Staff Nurse in that department.

They always used to say that St Mary's interviews consisted of them throwing you a rugby ball. If you caught it you were offered a place, if you caught it and kicked it out of the window you were offered a scholarship.
