We have arrived at Plane Trees CL near Halifax today. I thought we would use our bus passes. I recently changed my backpack as the zips had gone on the old one. Left our bus passes in the old backpack...now in landfill. At least I rescued my keys.

I would have thought that anyone permanently disposing of any type of bag would have at least checked all the pockets first which you would do exactly the same with a handbag as there could be money or any other valuable items that could be easily forgotten about.

I knew one such lady, a different bag every day (to match her shoes: not a problem for me). She used a couple of simple material pouches & swapped them between bags, no risk of anything being left behind. Available online, I think.

That’s a nuisance: hassle of form filling, proof of age etc. Our passes give us free bus travel throughout Scotland & a % off train travel, just within our Region (not as good a % as a Senior Railcard). OH carries his in his wallet, with many other cards.

I tried the pouches approach, still does not work for me as I need to transfer various items that I put in different pockets of the bag into another.

Can't wait for warmer weather so that I could wear my cargo shorts with pockets and do away with the bum bag that I wear with treggings with no pockets.

I lost a bank card in a daypack out hillwalking in the 80s. I went through the rigmarole of getting a new card (pre internet) and all was fine.
Was back up the hills and pulled out the sitmat/ frame to sit on and out flew the lost card. It had been stashed down the back of the rucksack. I honestly didn't remember putting it there.

Looked into getting a replacement which will cost £14 for one. Will wait and check when we get home, just in case I took it out of the old bag and forgot to put it in the new one. Hard luck Ewen.
