Thanks for all your input guys.
The problem was extinguished early afternoon.
I managed to download AVG in safe mode and it did the rest.
I followed Grams advice with CCleaner and the computer seems to run ok with AVG, so big thanks to Gram.
After I sorted the computer out I went to load the bike and trailer for a week in Wales, as soon as I went out the door a big thunderstorm came over.I've only just finished.
