Lazyboy was the brand we had 10 months of problems with, think their products are made abroad, when all got sorted we went with G-Plan made in this country
I once paid an arm and a leg for a suite made by the original Schriber group back in the late 70s, I had it recovered twice, but each time it was becoming as expensive to be done as a new suite would cost. In the end our eldest daughter scrounged it off us, and kept it until it became thread-bear once more. We then bought a Celebrity branded suite, which at the time cost about the same as a recover would have done, but the quality simply was not there, and after about a year the seat cushions became flattened and rather uncomfortable, so we then had to 'pump' it up by buying some separate foam seat cushions and covering them with a plain toning fabric. Its this suite that our next youngest girl has just taken to her flat with her, and we are left sitting on a couple of recliners out of our dining room until the new Harveys settees arrive mid May.
My point is though, that after buying expensive in the past, we have come to the conclusion that we do like a complete change every few years, so no point really buying a suite that cannot be disposed of on the grounds of high cost after about 10 years of wear, better to buy something more reasonably priced and be able to chuck it without too much guilt, although most of the time one of our offspring will be sure to snap it up for free!

We had an awful time wtih SCS. Ordered two leather sofas, which arrived on time, but after a week we had to have one repadded as it was so poorly done.
Their customer service was very poor and quite arrogant.
We wouldn't use them again.

We bought a new sofa last year on 4 years interest free credit as we couldn't afford to pay for one in total. We got ours from DFS and went to the back of the shop where they had a room with ex display and cancelled orders. We bought a 4 seater, chair and pouffe a lot cheaper than we could have afforded it if ordered, and we didn't have to wait for it making. The service was first class too. In fact, we went in to speak to the manager later to praise the man who sold it to us and to the other members of staff we came into contact with too.
We got our settees from SCS and had them a year next month, when we went to the shop we ordered a settee and big comfy chair but after a week we decided that it was a bad choice I tried to cancel it but was unable to as we bought it in store but did manage to change it to the one we have now we had it on 0% finance as we had not long bought house and were saving for a wedding so to be honest it was great for us.
We just got a sofa from DFS and they were fantastic. It came bang on time,...they fitted the delivery around my time and phoned me when it was an hour away....the delivery team were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.
They send a questionaire after to see what we thought and if they could improve the service.
we have a scs leather sofa, had it for five years and the foam is starting to flattern, so is getting uncomfy, cant remove cushions to refill them so will have to replace it later this year.
We've bought our last couple of suites from DFS - we actually like the fact that, after about 8 years, they really need replacing. My in-laws had a 20-year old sofa - looked flipping horrible, no matter that it was in a great condition!
Our current one is only 6 years old but still fine - it's leather and our cats have made a few scratches in it, so we've been back to DFS but can't decide on a new one.
The interest-free offer is genius - a new sofa for £20 a month? No-brainer...

Hi Vectratrot i was told this morning that a lot of G Plan is now made in China,
i took my dining chairs to a upholsterers this morning to see about getting them recovered their G Plan and cost me £1200 for 6 leather chairs. The upholsterer actually told me that the leather chairs were made of reconstituted leather which is basically the sh*t bits of leather all glued together which also means that they are only about 30% leather
The leather started to peel off after 2 years bear in mind these are the dining chairs so only get used every blue moon as we have a large table in the kitchen, when i phoned G Plan they just werent interested. I actually spent just over 3 grand on G Plan furniture for our dining room i can assure you they wont get another penny now.
I've had our SCS leather sofa and chair for over seven years and I'm more than happy with it. It was cheap but is still looking good after heavy use.
We had a very cheap sofa from them before this one which lasted well but after several years of children and pets clambering all over it needed replacing!
I never had to deal with customer service so don't know how good or bad it is.
We had a 2 leather sofas and a chair from DFS it was great only got rid of it cos we were sick of seeing it there wasn't a mark on it and it had had some wear, having a house full all the time kids being young and not looking after it like I did
Would NEVER go near SCS again. Ordered a suite with loose covers. Delivery was weeks late. They delivered the wrong colour covers. On closer examination the suite was very badly made and nothing like the sample in the showroom. Complained to the store, they did not want to know. Phoned head office, nobody interested. Eventually went back to store near closing time and refused to go unless something was done. Eventually covers were replaced. These too were faulty. Eventually we got our money back after threatening trading standards.
