I've been camping on Anglesey since 1997 and I can honestly say I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times it's rained while I've been there. Either I'm just very lucky or it's not as wet there as some people make it out to be

Our favourite is Church Bay between Holyhead and Amlwch. Lots of rock pools and a sandy beach. Our dog loves it. Fabulous cafe at the top near the carpark run by friends of ours. Just try the cheese and onion pie and cream scones.

Thanks for the recommendation Margaret. I went to Church Bay in May this year but didn't go in the cafe. I love cheese and onion pie so I'll make a point of going next time I'm down that way.

There are some fantastic rock formations in the crumbling cliffs above Church Bay - they look like they've been twisted, cooked and crunched! My inner (thwarted!) geologist salivates at the sight - the rest of me salivates at the mention of cheese 'n onion pie and scones. I must go down to the sea again, methinks - just about two hours from home, could be a good day trip...
