Our 11 year old Lab has been on Yumove for Senior dogs for about a year or so. She is really active but we noticed that she was beginning to slow down a little (and carry her ball more than asking for it to be thrown sometimes).
We buy it from Amazon (subscribe and save) but also watch out for it reduced on Amazon (often down from over £60 to less than £45 for 240 tablets). A vet advised that YuMove is better than the cheap alternatives; it is the Chondroitin and glucosamine (I think). I have no evidence for or against using other brands but YuMove has worked for us.
I was given some Yumove as the dog had died afer taken only 3 from a perscribed 120 pack from the vet, our 7 year old cocker showing signs of joint problems, we kept her on the tablets and bought more,it just became to expensive, we were advised to try Tesco own make, with both Chondroitin and glucosamine in, which we did and its has same as Yumove only £3.15 for 120 pills less the posh name. We are happy, so it the dog, now aged 10.
Instead of assuming all brands are equal - except for price - it's a good idea to check the amount of Glucosamine in each tablet. Youmove tablet for large dogs contains 750mg Glucosamine and 450mg Green Lipped Mussel (containing Natural Chondroitin), amongst other things.
We used Youmove for years as our dog had bad hips, and it seemed to help her (she also loved them and thought they were treats!). Amazon often have Youmove on special offer and the tubs always work out more cost-effective than the packets.
She’s been on yumove for about 2 weeks now. She seems okay but we hadn’t really noticed that much apart from her slowing down a bit.
