We're waiting to see how it works in Scotland. We haven't received any notification yet. If I understand it correctly, Mrs L should get 100 pounds and I'm waiting to see if I've crept under the 35K limit.
Unfortunately the 35k is gross.
I'm quite happy to take anything I can get. It helps to pay the extra cost of heating as we don't have mains gas in the village.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

When I checked a while ago, we have to receive certain qualifying benefits to get the Scottish equivalent (different name). List of benefits:
Got our notifications today. £102.70 each. The Pension Age Winter Heating Payment has already gone into the accounts that the State Pension is paid into. We both pay income tax (& rates are slightly higher in Scotland), so HMRC will take some back.
For some strange reason both of our £100 payments get paid to me. They always have although I can't think why. However I do pay all the bills and it does come in handy! I've had the letter but when I looked at my bank balance earlier I hadn't got the money. I have had my £10 "Christmas bonus" though. A bit of a joke really as it hasn't increased in years, if ever. The original £10 is probably worth no more than £1 at today's prices.
I have just looked it up and the £10 Christmas bonus was introduced in 1972 and hasn't changed since. I'm not sure about 1972, but in 1975 according to my own records it would have covered the cost of a large supermarket trolley filled with groceries. That trolley-full would today cost over £170 even in Aldi where we usually shop. According to the Bank of England, no less, the £10 today would be well over £100.
My £200 WFP popped up in my bank account this morning.
Lets see how much of it I actually get to keep when my private (taxed) pension arrives later!
Never seem to benefit much from annual state pension rises, 'Rachel from accounts' and her predecessors always seem to grab a big chunk back in taxes, can't see this being different even though nominally a 'tax free' payment!
Our £200 arrived today. I am are still below the tax threshold (just) but only thanks to Martin Lewis's advice. My wife "donated" some of her tax allowance to me so that lifted me out of the tax bracket again. However, that probably won't last long unless the tax thresholds get raised, and I can't see that happening anytime soon. I have signed several petitions calling for it but I doubt they'll make any difference.
