If I had one criticism, it would be why does almost every word have to be sung? I know it's a musical but...not seen the stage version so not sure if it's the same.
Didn't have any problems with the casting.
We think it's very cheap, 10% Cineworld discount and age concession.
the stage version is the same, its almost bordering on an operetta.
still not sure personally, for me the thing about live theatre is it IS live, there's somthing about live theatre that cinema can never recreate, and to me more of a skill from the actors behind it, they have ONE chance every time to get it right, the cinema and retake, re record as many times as the wish, and these days with digital Cinematic cameras costs them very little to do so.
As a theatre Sound engineer, I may be a little bias, but you just cant recreate live music in ANY cinema system.
We went monday night and thought it was excellent. Took a bit of getting used to every word being sung- i expected normal speaking with songs along the way. But thoroughly enjoyed it.
Camping Nutcase - we're now waiting for Quartet to be shown at our local cinema. That looks really good too.
Most of the thetrical people I know give it rave reviews.

different - Crowe is not a singer but at least he is the part enjoyed it in a different way to the stage version saw the stage version twice seems to have more depth but less singing quality as a film
