Once again, thank you everyone for your thoughts and ideas - he is now angry, but willing to listen and to read your responses. ( His comment at first "why would all those people want to help me - they don't know me?" has now changed to " I am going to get Dad to take me up to PALS and we'll see what they say...." and " I am NOT going to let them fuse my bones - in a few years they might have some new ideas and it would be too late for me!)
So once again ,, thank you all so much!
I'm so glad that we've been able to help and to spur him on to believing in himself a bit.
A bad day today - he has been in a lot of pain and is feeling really low! We are working hard to talk him back round to being positive again - the removable cast he is in is really tricky to remove when he wants a bath ( one of his stress handling strategies) so he has gone to bed instead of going out with his mates!! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!!
I just want to send you all a massive hug. Your son has his whole life in front of him and should be focusing on that. It is not going to be easy but he needs to try and stay focused on seeing what he can do, take one day at a time, if he has a bad day just let him see it through with the thoughts of tomorrow is another day. This is going to be easy for me to say than it is for you all to do. Plus his mates that are sticking by him get them to visit and do all they can. At that age he may unfortunately listen to them more than parents. I wish u the best of luck xx
