I love Hallibut, especially a nice juicy steak, grilled with some butter, but its rare that the local Fishmongers have any, and when they do, its very pricey indeed, more expensive than a good Fillet Steak.
My husband is more adventurous at trying all kinds of Fish than l am, and has eaten Grouper before, but refuses to eat any of the big Game fish such as Swordfish, and dislikes Tuna. His favorite fish is a Gulthead Bream, which are plentiful and fairly cheap to buy, as a 'Farmed' fish.
The down side to Cod is that its prone to infestations of pin worm, that penetrate the flesh, and although harmless when cooked, are not very nice when you find one in the flesh of your fish, being like small garden worms in apperance.
Haddock, being a midwater swimmer, avoids the problem by keeping off the bottom of the oceans floor where these worms live and breed, and inturn get consumed by Cod and the bottom feeder species, where they infest the flesh by burrowing through the fishes Stomach lining in a bid to escape.
Here in the South, my wife and I had fish & chips in a nearby town.
What the fish was we had no idea, but it was nice.
Lots of outlets claim "Cod" but here in the South of Spain there are lots of other spacies.
I don't have a DNA kit to establish what it was.
The owner cook and his wife are English; but for some reason he didn't appreciate my Spanish.
Strange people ;-)
Had some lovely fresh salmon with salad for dinner this evening. We bought it from a local Mercadona store this afternoon.

Then I bought a tent.
I'm not destitute, I'm just poor.
Well, I've just enjoyed fresh, hand-dived scallops for dinner - even better, at no charge and I didn't have to shuck them! Not being smug, just an amazing treat.
