We're camping at the moment in Glencoe and the midges are rife. We use one of those 'Executioner' tennis racquet-type zapper things and it's excellent. I wonder if they make one with a counter on it that increases everytime it 'zaps' so we know how many midges we've killed?
the thing about those "teeth with wings" creatures....when you kill one,a million come to the funeral!! We had great fun (actually our main source of evening entertainment one year) wacking them with t towels! Have fun midge splatting!

and lots more besides
No where near Midgeland, however we had a BBQ Sunday & my face, neck, ears, & arms are covered in bites from the softie English midge...off to chemist for anti-histamines!
Never have I had so many bites, they are driving me nuts!
Ah! the dear old Scottish midgie....The Jack Russel of the insect world!! They just do not know when to give up...You have to admire their persistence......NOT!!!!!
I wonder if there's anywhere on line you can buy a personal flame thrower? That might keep a few million at bay(the older wiser ones)....The babies...and teenagers would just keep coming...as they don't know any better....
I think some other country bred our particular strain of midgie to destroy the Scottish tourist trade....The person that comes up with an outright solution to the problem will be a millionaire over night......

Oh come on Jelboy, you Scots bred them yourselves to make sure Scotland does not get invaded by masses of English tourists spoiling your lovely countryside and the views and roads up there.
English Tourists!! English Tourists!!! I couldn't get in the pub for English tourists last time I was away...Had to stand outside with the midgies......
