Ronseal or Cuprinol both do decent stuff. You want one that 'sinks in' as opposed to sitting on the top though. If it sloshes about in the can as in a petrol can, thats the stuff you need. Dont go for a paint consistency type, as this will sit on top of the boards and wear off pretty quick.
