 Hi i have an B rated large family chest freezer 3 foot long and there is now only me to use it and it has only a few things in it.

Now i have seen a small under counter freezer that is C  rated  but it would be running at nearly full capacity  with food and i was thinking of getting it as it would be FREE.

Would it be cheaper to run?

The 2 year old chest freezer runs at 423kw per year and the 20 year old LG runs at 354 per year.

When you say fill with paper what do you mean?

I agree with the previous post that if you pack the empty space in the freezer with cardboard boxes filled with newspaper then it will cost less to run. As it is at the moment the freezer is trying to freeze " fresh air" and it is considerably more expensive to run than a full freezer.
