It has a motion alarm, but how do you alarm the battery access? (probably being technically thick as usual).

Well, our vans external lockers all have alarm contacts - including the leisure battery . If i open one while its just parked up, the alarm sounds. Bearing in mind though mine is a vehicle and not a trailer (caravan), the alarm is direct to the starter battery - again protected by an alarmed bonnet. But the same should apply to such as a caravan battery powering any alarm, in a locker that is protected.

Ill just add that i know of one caravan that sits with a wheel missing, to thwart thieves. Its a ball-ache, but no-ones swiped it yet. (unless of course, its the wheel that been swiped! )

Well, further update, the loss adjuster has been to see us and has taken one set of caravan keys, I assume this is standard practice? He didn't seem to think that there would be any problem.

Apparently the insurer will try and find an acceptable caravan but you can reject that and find your own and put money towards it if more expensive than the insured value.

Glad to hear your insurance claim should be straight forward. I hope you get an excellent replacement van. I hope the scumbags that took your van are caught soon.
