I am planning on having a girly Christmas Party at the beginning of December as we are struggling to get a night out with Christmas parties and babysitters.
I was hoping that you maybe able to help with some Christmassy type party food - we are not wanting a full meal just a few bits and bobs that we can pick on through the night.
from my daughters.....anything chocolate especially if it also has a drop of alcohol in it for example home made rum truffles or small pots of chocolate mousse
Do you, or any of friends, have a chocolate fountain hidden away in a cupboard - they were all the rage a few years ago, then seemed to disappear again. I think it would be great fun to ressurect one, with pieces of fruit, marshmallows and cubes of firm cake (madeira?) to dip in!
Hi I have never seen anyone with a chocolate fountain and unfortunately most of my friends have not got a sweet tooth they would rather have savoury especially if they are having a glass of wine as well.
Smoked salmon and cream cheese spirals spread the cream cheese on the smokes salmon roll and slice, alternatively put both on a slice of bread with the crusts cut off roll and cut into slices. Sainsburys do a really cheap pack of smoked salmon pieces that will work for this.
Savoury option- how about making up a cheese straws recipe and cutting the mixture into cheesy Christmas trees, holly leaves etc? Should be able to find a cookie cutter to do the job. Sprinkle with paprika for a festive touch. Garnish with tiny cherry tomatoes for holly berries.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
Don't know whether particular 'girly' but dips and pitta/tortilla chips/veg are great. Homemade tzatziki, guacamole and salsa always go down well. Yum ... got room for another guest? lol
I make the following for myself as nibbles on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Dill Sauce:
Mix equal amount of creme fraiche and mayo, add some chopped dill, salt and pepper to taste
Marie Rose Sauce:
Mix tomato puree with mayo, add a dash of Worcester sauce, add some paprika, salt and pepper to taste
On Poppy and Sesame Seeds thins or Ritz crackers, either:
Put a king prawn on the biscuit, add a small amount of Marie Rose sauce, then top with either black or orange lumpfish roes; or:
Put a strip of smoked salmon (off cuts are ideal for this) on the biscuit, add a small amount of dill sauce, then top with either black or orange lumpfish roes.
They look pretty on a plate side by side.
How about making cheesy Choux pastry bites served slightly warm? I find Choux pastry easy to make.
Loaded potato skins with bacon, cheese and spring onions would be nice. The flesh of the potato could be scooped out and make salmon fish cake with it.
Have fun!

Thank you for your suggestions I am sure I can come up with something from the list.
Always seem to do potatoe skins and the usual type of stuff when we have girlies and hubbys round so was trying to do something more christmassy and special just for us girls.
We (my two sisters and I)do a girly christmas get together and we invite our friends, we do a meze and some cold meats, potato skins, lots of nibbles , mozzarella sundries tomatoes, humus, breadsticks, ect ect, lay it all up the table, trim it with glitter stars, have christmas crackers, I make meringues , we have a few chocolates, we have a feast that we can pick on through the evening, Inbetween laughing our heads off lol.
We don't have christmas food though we did that but found we thought we were having christmas tea, so we buy things that are a bit different so it stays as our special tradition. :)
