I am thinking of getting an Ipad, but haven't got a clue about them.
What I need to know is, can you get accessories to.
Connect a USB cable, so I can use my portable Hard Drive, Camera, Satnav etc.
I will also need to be able to put an SD card in.
Can you use WIFI to connect to a printer or would I have to use the USB cable.
Finally which Ipad would you recommend.
I have a samsung galaxy tab. Best way tolook at is its a large phone without the phone bit on it. Works on android. Has built in camera and video recorder. Takes a micro sd card but cannot connect via usb to harddrive though apparently there is a converter can be purchased to do that.
I would not give up my laptop for this. Its portable, essy to use but woukd not repkace a laptop for me.
From the sounds of it you woukd be better off witb a laptop.
Hi, an ipad is just an ipad, you cant add accessories to it, cant connect via usb and cant add to the memory by an sd card.
You can wirelessly print by getting an app and sending to your printer that way (if you have a wireless one).
We have an ipad and its good but if you want choice then maybe buy a netbook? Cheaper than a tablet and more versatile.
I have just move on from a net book to a tablet (Galaxy note 10.1) as the ports in my netbook had become worn and no longer worked with my dongle. Niether of these machines had a CD rom, but for me I just wanted something more portable to take away in the caravan with me, and to play a few games on with the grandkids whilst out and about in the car, so the tablet works well for this, BUT, if I was to have to chose between these and one of the new lightweight high spec latops, the laptop would win hands down for being more practical, having loads of storage space, larger screen, adaptability, and loads of power. the only downside is that the games for laptops and Pcs are far more expensive than they are for tablets, but being as laptops are not so restricted for storage space on the hard drive, the games are often better both in graphics and content. The thing that suprised me though, was the fact that most of my favorite games over the years from the notebook and lappy did not have an app vesion available for the tablet.
By a stroke of Luck last week, a friend was upgrading his work laptop from his business, and hearing that my old netbook had finally died as far as the internet was concerned, he kindly donated his old one to me, which infact is only 2years old, and is a top of the range proffesional laptop, so I was lucky to get both a tablet and new to me Lappy in the same week. He even got the tech guys at work to clean and install a new copy of windows for me, so its all as good as new, the only downside, and the reason he upgraded, is that it has a metal body, and weighs a ton if you needed to carry it around a lot like he did.

IPads are pretty difficult to do things with such as printing.
We have both just changed over to Samsung Note 10s, I did see OH with a USB dongle plugged into his last week and they accept micro SD memory cards.
It really depends on what you want to do with it, if you are wanting to do a lot of word processing, photos, printing etc then a lappy is a better option.
I am sorry but I would steer well clear of all the Chinese copy tablets being sold for around the £100 mark. You get what you pay for in terms of upgrade ability, firmware, hardware support and compatibility.
OH says you can use a Google cloud printer to print from android or else you can print to some Samsung printers although most of them are laser rather than inkjet.
I am working remotely this week after knee surgery, I can access my putie in an office 20 miles away and using a google cloud print app, print what I am working on back here at home! All far too clever for me!
Ali, how do you connect a usb dongle to a Note 10.1 please?
Mines got wi-fi but no 3G as far as im aware, and it was only the more expensive models around the £500 mark that had the 3G ready installed, but apparantly non of those need a dongle to connect, its already built into the system, you just need a provider and a sim.

I also have the same adaptor as John_Young, cost about £2 from Ebay. Has USB port also card reader ports, just pop in my SD4 camera card in and quickly transfer pictures

I have one of those, but they only transfer pictures so not a true USB solution.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
