Going away with friends in the caravans for NY and fancy a traditional hot for after the pub. the re-heat for 10pm will be a bit tricky as I'd like it ready for when we return so thought I'd take the slow cooker.

Any thoughts re amount of liquid (always put too much in) and cooking time would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a Swan auto slow cooker, but have never had the instructions.

Our tried and tested method is to use about one third volume liquid. If you make up Bisto type gravy, it will be the correct proportion for the cooking, and nice and tasty.

If you cook on high it will take 4-6 hours, low 8-10 hours.
Always start on high for about 30 mins regardless.

What about something like this ?
Lamb Stew
I use a lot of stew recipes and ideas and just put them in the slow cooker.
I adore my slow cooker :) Enjoy :)

If it helps we use a timer on our slow cooker so that it comes on and switches off at a given time.  Might be the answer for you.

I like lamb stew for 4 use whole leg of lamb off the bone and trimmed cut into chunks.  Add carrots and new potatoes and 1 pint of stock put slow cooker on medium for 5 hours and stir add in thickening agent ie cornflour and serve yummy
