Most of you have probably never heard of Alice Pyne. This totally inspiring and selfless young woman passed away at 11:35 last night aged just 17. Four years ago she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and was given the news that it was terminal. Instead of wallowing in self pity she made a bucket list of things she always wanted to do, and gave all her time and energy to raising money for the charity she set up 'Alice's Escapes'. This charity was to help children in a similar position to Alice to experience a family holiday doing something that they had always wanted to. Alice recently recieved a Pride of Britain award and was also awarded the British Empire Medal for services to charity in June. My heart goes out to her family and friends and I offer my deepest condolences to them all.

If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, you obviously haven't grasped the gravity of the situation.
My Father had Hodgkins Lymphoma, his immune system compeletly stopped working,so anyone going near him had to be germ free. Although my father had enjoyed a healthy long life to his point he carried on as near normal, going out on his bike and doing at least 30 miles despite the Dr's suggestion of a 'gentle' ride. I think the Dr imagine 2 or 3 miles, but for someone more used to 65miles at a time, half of this was a breeze.
I admire anyone who goes on to do great things despite their life limiting ailments.
I hope she was happy in herself which is ultimately waht we would all want for anyone.
When I go, I want to be pushing myself to my limit and enjoying myself.
