I Just wanted to warn anyone thinking of visiting the New Forest with a dog ,that the woods are a no go at the moment.
Many dogs have died and the cause is unknown at the moment.
The Animal welfare Trust are now investigating and trying to work out the cause.
More details are on their website http://www.aht.org.uk/
The first cases where very close to Sandy Balls campsite nr fordingbridge .
This has been on twice before. It's a bit of an exaggeration to say "the woods are out of bound". The New Forest is a big place. It is my understanding that this problem affects a relatively small area East of Fordingbridge and close to Sandy Balls.
This is not to be taken lightly but there have been very few cases and much of the "Forest" is unaffected according to my research.
I think you need to look into this more as 12 dogs have died and the effected area has been expanded.
I have friends who live in the area and this is a situation that is serious they say :-(
Just wanted to post to make sure people knew sorry if posted before I was unaware
Thank you Gary. I am glad you have informed us. There is no way I want to risk my little dog's life. Until this problem had been solved then the area will continue to expand.I feel so sorry for the owners of the twelve dogs who have died.
