Had to have one of our cats put to sleep yesterday, couldn't stand being in the house today even though our other cat is there and I have a load of housework to do. He wasn't the sort of cat to follow you about, keeping you company or wanting fuss but there is a great big puss shaped space. Went to Go Outdoors in Kidderminster for retail therapy instead. Didn't help me or the bank balance.
Its been a year since my Cassie had to be pts. She was my favourite and we are left with a mad Jack Russell and a cat that doesnt do cuddles under any circumstances. I miss that so much even now.
Sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our nineteen year old cat recently, and he was a loving, cuddly cat, and he has left a big hole. We had had him since he was six weeks old. My lap is very empty when I sit and watch TV. Some pets do leave a bigger hole in your life than others. Our remaining cat is not very affectionate, unless biting you is a way of showing affection.
It will get easier as the time goes by but right now I expect you are feeling raw. Hang in there.

((hugs)) - it is a horrible feeling when you have to have a beloved pet put down.
The only thing that I can say, although it may not seem so at the moment, is that the pain does get less raw over time, and although you will always miss him/her - although always tinged with sadness, you can also let the happiness they brought, come through.
I know how you feel as we had to have one of our dogs put to sleep in April and although we have another dog it left a huge space and we were devastated.
But, we now have a new puppy and our other dog is adjusting to him. Of course we still miss our other dog who we had for 11yrs and was a rescue dog but it does get easier with time.
And I agree totally with what "Camping nutcase" says too as our boy Bruce brought us so much happiness and was a fantastic dog and had a lovely temperament. Remember what a good life you gave your cat. x
Thank you for your kind thoughts. He only started to show signs of being ill on Thursday, so its all been a bit of a shock. He was only 9, so not old really. He was always a bit grumpy, sometimes very grumpy indeed, but he was a character. Our other cat is a bit puzzled by his disappearance. Thanks again, it's nice to be able to post where folks know how sad losing a pet is.
Massive hugs to u, no idea what you are going through as not yet had to experiance it, but my first cat I rehomed fro, my brother 3years ago, he is 13 and I dread the day it will happen. We also have a 2year old cat that has had a habbit of getting locked in in places and going missing. The longest she has been missing is just over 24hrs and that has been hard xxx
