Have you tried a TENS machine? I suffer with my back and so does my sister. She has mentioned how much tens machine works for her a couple of times and I've always been a sceptic. However, over the weekend, I've had a really bad bout with my back and got to the point that I would have tried anything. So........ Off I go to the local Tesco Extra, driven by OH as I couldn't drive. Returned home 40 minutes and £40 lighter and hooked myself up. Had it on from 3:30 pm till 10pm and then took it off for bed. I WAS AMAZED!! There was still some pain but certainly not anything like it was.............. And I managed to walk upstairs upright. Got a great nights sleep I woke up at 5:00am in considerable pain again so stuck it back on, did my usual routine of school runs etc and switched it off at about 11am. That afternoon, I ran up and down stairs, pegged washing out, could bend and straighten nearly normally. Didn't have to switch it back on till nearly tea time and left it on till bed time. I've not even put it on today.
Might be worth a try, I wouldn't have believed it had I not tried it myself best £40 ever spent. Did go on amazon and the same one was £26 but at this point I don't care it was well worth the extra to have it instantly. Had I known just how much it was going to help I would have paid double!
Thought it would be worth a post on its own if it can help others they can help with all sorts of pain....... Arthritis, carpel tunnel, per menstrual cramps etc etc well worth a try
If thats a little box with wires attached to you then our neighbour uses one and finds it very effective. We sometimes see her doing the garden with it attached.
She finds it makes a world of difference. Certainly helps her.
I've been having loads of bother with my shoulder, a friend reminded me that I've got a tens machine, after turning the house upside down I couldn't find it. Off I went to Llyods and bought a new one, I decided to go for the one with four pads, my other has got two, after just a couple of days I feel so much better! Well worth the walk to Lloyds to get it, lol!

Currently suffering a bad bout of sciatica. I find my TENS machine works well with 'general' back pain but seems to be less effective with sciatica. Still worth a try though and I won't let it win!

Another one here, suffer severe back pain at work occasionally. It comes in bouts. The only way I can get through my shift is to use the four pad TENS machine. Highly recommended.
I used one when I had bad pain in my shoulders. Found it did ease the pain a lot. Not a cure but anything that helps is worth a try. It also made me laugh if I put it on too fast and laughing is a tonic in itself. It' s got to be better than dosing yourself up with painkillers.
I used a TENS machine for my labour. Along with watching Richard and Judy on This Morning, it was the only pain relief I needed. They are fabulous things and would recommend one to anybody.
