W grow potatoes in tyre planters and have had several successful years.
We just buy a value bag of spuds from the supermarket and let them sprout then plant them out.
Last year we got 5kg of potatoes from a 1kg bag.
We also grow tomatoes in grow bags laid on the decking. Had a bumper crop last year.
Not very green fingered here and live in a flat so my growing skills are limited to one or two big pots of flowers on the landing outside my front door...
But...A few years ago...I took some tomato seeds dried them off put them in compost and sat them by a window that got the sun for most of the day....Grew to about 8ft tall and gave me a reasonable crop and I did little more than water them every day...Felt like a proper Percy Thrower I did....
I sometimes think about getting an allotment....But would be a waste on my part...Don't have the inclination or the time for all the hard work that would be needed tending it.....
