Im not taking any anti depressants their all pain killers for my nervous system which i damaged a few years ago.The rest is a Statin and a couple for a slightly enlarged prostate as well as for the old water works.
That is 9 in the morning and 10 at night.I guess the older we get the more drugs we need to keep us going.
Blimey! Although I joked about having a bedside cabinet looking like a pharmacy I am starting to consider myself pretty lucky. All I am on at the moment is one Omeprozole and a couple of eye drops. I have known people in their 40's who can't start the day without umpteen pills first...must be awful.
I'm only 41 and have to take loads of tablets 😟.luckily not antidepressant's.I'm certainly keeping Boots in business!. I've looked into natural therapies and eat accordingly, ultimately I need drugs to ease my diseases.
No shame in pill popping, whatever your age. Ultimately they are keeping me alive and mobile, and a vast amount of other people too 😀

I think it depends on the milage your body has done when younger, mine has been round the clock.
I tend to agree with that Jeff....Done mainly hard manual graft(Shipyards etc) most of my days...Never ever thought in your 20's 30's and even in the 40's how hard it was and the demands it put on your body...Beginning to feel it now as I approach retirement....Bad(ish) legs etc...And the stiffness from a hard day takes a wee bit longer to shake off....
My aches and pains are nothing though compared to what some go through as they get older!!!!
Painkillers on the days its too sore to handle...And that's about it for me....

Fair point - I'm talking about what *should* happen. I know that in some areas, some NHS services are less than stellar, as the head of the CQC pointed out recently. My local GP practice are pretty strong on mental health so I tend to see things done well. I'm sorry your local services aren't so good. Is it in any way possible for you to access a different practice?
You're right there! Some of the health boards are awful. I'm in the NHS Ayrshire and Arran and the whole attitude to mental health sucks big time! Our local practice is quite large, so I've recently tried a GP I hadn't tried before and he's been a lot more understanding. My previous GP was extremely patronising. But for some reason, I just kept going to see her! I got really ill before Christmas and couldn't eat for about 10 days - so via an emergency appointment, I am now seeing this different GP. He's been more proactive and ordered many tests to get me back on my feet. I'm having big problems with a hiatus hernia, but my previous GP kept telling me that I shouldn't have any pain or trouble eating with it. So, over the last few years, I've become very depressed and anxious about what on earth is wrong with me. However, I've just been to see a consultant who immediately said that my symptoms were not imagined and there was something definitely wrong in there. Cue me worrying that I'm about to croak! So, I've to have an endoscopy (again) to have a look in there.
The new GP is far more understanding about how I will struggle with all this. But if I want to be referred to CMH - it'll be at least 6 months! Our practice are just not equipped to deal with people like me who have a real physical problem, which makes an existing anxiety problem worse - vicious circle!
I had thought about trying another practice, but it's some distance away from us. Difficult ins't it?
I'm trying to be hopeful that the endoscopy with show that my hernia has grown and causing all my digestive probs. If I know what it is, I won't worry so much!
Flipping heck I'm just a beginner on 6 pills a day, cost was 1 heart attack, 2 stents in heart arteries, triple heart bypass, hope I never qualifie for 19.

I suffer from Acute peripheral neuropathy which causes pain all over my body, hands particular as i get pain as well as a burning sensation.
Gone are my fishing days and playing in bands as the hands have a mind of their own some times.
Yep,19 pills does sound a lot but as long as they keep me going thats fine with me.
I've read a lot about peripheral neuropathy and it sounds awful - you have my sympathies.....
