Hi happy campers I have just bought my first smart phone and it will be my only net access so will use it for buying stuff. I am just wondering if I need to get some sort of security for it, and if so where to buy it from. I need something very simple to install and use I so not want my bank details and stuff going astray. can anyone advis please?
You don't say which has it is but if you have it password/code protected, only install reputable Apps from the main store (itunes/play) and don't save your card numbers to the phone they're pretty safe.
There are apps to lock/wipe/locate remotely you might want to install

They also die if you leave them in the freezer.
Please keep your dogs at room temperature!
I would use a product like AVG or similar to allow you to lock, wipe and protect your phone.
You must also have a screen lock on so if you leave behind your phone or it is stolen people cannot access your phone.
Change passwords regularly (every 90 days)
Never make and purchases over a unsecure wifi network (eg in coffee bars), they are insecure as it is easy for someone to intercept your data, including passwords/credit card details.
Use the 3G/4G mobile network to make purchases or do anything confidential
If you can, use a credit card with a low limit so if your details are stolen the damage is limited or if you use a bank card again have a separate account that you use with only a small amount of money in and no overdraft

Gee thanks everyone. I just knew I would get good advice on here!. So to sum up - only get apps from google playstore, change passwords regular, ( must confess I have had some passwords for many years, but not anymore!) use password to unlock my phone, have a bank card with low limit, and check out AVG. Again a big thank you to you all I know I can always count on ukc. I look in most days but still not camping anymore but with this nice weather I am almost camping all day in my garden. I hope you all have a super season this year to make up for the last few years.
