hi world,
can't remember how or why I started thinking of him but I can't remember his name and now it's bugging me.
He was on variety type shows in the 70's and maybe earlier,a silent comedian (I think), but not a mime (so not Marcel Marceau), who lost his hands up his sleeves, got tangled in the microphone wire, hit his head on it and various other misadventures - basically accident prone. He wore a jacket and something similar to a bowler hat.
Anyone with any ideas please, it's bugging me.
Thanks, Andy

Could it be George Carl who was an American and performed on various UK variety shows including the Royal Command Performance.
After reading the OP last night, that's the bloke I thought of!
I could picture him, and even had an inkling his first name was George, but was struggling after that, even with a google! I think the "French" bit must have affected my investigation!
George Carl. That's him. Not sure why I thought French, although the name could have been a French one if it thought about it! Going to look on You Tube now, see if i was right about the silent bit.
Thanks a lot - can sleep now!
