I so hope thats not the norm, being a regular camper a few years ago with me ax. I'm now returning to the fold with my boy in tow. I'm looking forward to the friendliness of camping.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Dorset, the site was nearly full,so we were put on the overflow field which were mostly tents,at the weekend it quickly filled with more tents,i have never seen more miserable or downright ignorant people in my life, they either looked the other way or put there heads down,i always speak to anyone I pass, but these people just never answered or at most grunted something, some even looked when spoken to and just ignored me.when they had gone, other campers on and they were a lot better,i would have thought the weekend campers would have been happy to have a break from work,
we spent a riveting week in dorset a few weeks back and the locals couldnt be nicer (being a scouser am friendly)
and pretty much say hi to everyone while out walking or exploring and got a lot of hellos back.
not to mention some beautiful scenery. think you will find some people just ignorant now a days, but to have a site full of them in one weekend i feel for you.

Me too. I am shy and quite reserved with strangers. The wife will chat to everyone. I'm not one to start a conversation. I will give a smile and the ubiquitous Scottish nod. If someone talks to me, I am quite happy to chat back, though.
