Hi,just a warning about pay and display parking in Newquay Cornwall.
I've just returned from holiday in Newquay, first day there, used the council owned pay and display car park near the Atlanic Hotel, paid for 2 hours, returned in 90mins to find a parking ticket.
Looked around car park, spots the council chappie so I taps his window ( softly) and askes him to explain.
After checking my receipt, and his photo, tells me it's a mistake and that he will cancel it back at the office. It's a hot sunny day and he had miss read the ticket.
If I had not been able to sort that out on the spot,I dread to think about the hassle to follow.
So be warned,Newquay is a nightmare to even park legally and when you can even find a space leave your ticket where even a council jobsworth can read it.
We go to Cornwall every year and i would advise anyone to park correctly where ever you are, and ALWAYS read the sign at the bottom where it states reasons for issuing a parking penalty and stick to it.
they took 3 million pounds in parking fines last year.
Before anyone condemns Cornwall, its the same in most other counties throughout the country and if you park correctly you will have no problems.
Elliot you done well to fined the warden thats having a bad day, i wonder how many mistakes he made on that day
I gave up going to Cornwall years ago. Lovely place but getting there and getting back is nose to tail traffic and traffic and parking once there is a nightmare. Nothing seems to improve. Maybe worth it well out of season.

And us. Out of season isn't any better. Fleecing tourists is an all year round job.
We go every year in our van - last year at Boscastle cars were parked in the spaces that have signs that say Motorhomes only penalty charges apply - so I got out and asked people to move (they'd just parked, after a bit of argy bargy they did - the traffic warden was there. So I asked the warden if they did give tickets - they said they did but they were a bit weird about it, inferring people appealed all the time and won.
So when I got home I put in a Freedom of Information
request to the council - the reply came back that they'd never taken any parking fines for parking in the motorhome spaces there as they weren't legally statutorily designated spaces - or something like that anyway - so, what a complete waste of time....
I received a ticket at Boscastle last year for parking slightly over the bay markings which were a T oneside and an L the other. But the car next to me and all along a row that appeared to have parked in a walkway received none.
I am normally so careful how I park even the kids take the mick out of me.

Yup we have given up as well :-( Shame love the place, but the place does not love tourists, despite the fact they rely on them.
Did not pay to park once in France last year, even in the car parks next to the beach!
