I am 50 years of age and sofa surfing, after a longterm relationship finished. I am now homeless. I would be able to afford to buy a small secondhand touring caravan. Would I be able to live in a touring caravan as a fixed or temporary abode? Are there sites that I could park it in the south east of england? Living in a touring caravan would help me no end. I could continue to find a job. I usually work in a shop or retail store, pay bills, and live a reasonable happy life. Not sure it would be that easy though? Any thoughts or ideas of help would be most welcome.
It could work out to be a fairly expensive existence with per night site fees + electric. It might be worth joining the clubs to access their certificated (cheaper) sites.
do you have an address that could be used for driving licence, insurance etc? We did it for almost 3 years but had to give it up as my health took a turn for the worse.
I was on a site once in Yorkshire where some if not all where living long term in their 2-3man touring vans...Awnings up...Decking underfoot and 3 piece suites etc in the awning....And they seemed to be managing fine...No Idea on the financial side of doing so as I didn't ask....
Fellow I know of....In his 70's lives full time in a four berth tourer....Semi retired now...But still does some odd jobs for the landowner of the field where his van is parked....
Again don't know the ins and outs of how he does it...But think he has an "Agreemennt" with the land owner over rent and such and as its not a site no need to move for 2-3 months of the year etc..
Isolated...and pretty iydilic location he lives in...Field on the edge of a river...About a mile outside the local village....Goes everywhere on his old rickity bike....And seems happy enough.....
Jelboy.
