I was late leaving my last campsite. Checkout time was 11. By the timed id packed up it was nearer 12. The site was empty and decided to take advantage of the good weather and get everything clean and dry. I did expect the wardens to come and tell me to hurry up but no one did. I think if site was busy then checkout time needs to be adhered to but what a difference getting stuff packed up and no need to wash it all at home.

We have used one site twice due to its location near family the check out time there is 10am our first visit we asked if we could stay a little later they said yes not a problem no one booked in.
Did the same when staying on CC site politely asked the warden offered to pay extra was told absolutely fine as they weren't busy.
A site in Derbyshire we visited the departure time was 6pm, think we stayed till 3 or 4 but were able to have another day's worth of activities.

Off to Vendee on Saturday, and the site we are arriving at on Sunday states "Check in from 12 noon"... however, reception is closed 12 noon to 3 pm!!!
The bulk of our journey will be on Saturday, leaving us just 1hr 40mins plus a bit of a brekkie stop on the Sunday, so hoping to arrive around 11am! Just hoping they let us in... and that every bugger that's leaving have upped and gone, leaving us with a wide choice of pitches!!
Oh... not booked, by the way... turning up on spec!
I'll let you know how it goes!

If the site stipulated that I pack up and go by 10am. I would do it, but wouldn't sleep the night before, worrying about getting it all done, especially if the weather was bad. Consequently I wouldn't like to stay on a site which wanted us off before noon.
We usually go to basic sites without formal pitches which don't mind when we arrive or depart. Suits us very well.

I went to one caravan friendly and tent unfriendly site in June. They do let tents on but the warden is obviously quite snobby about the tents. I knew two other families on site, both of which were caravanners with me being the tenter. I was on a hardstanding with EHU, with the car being on the hardstanding and my four man tent on the place where the awning normally goes.
On the Sunday morning I jokingly said to the warden 'what's kicking out time around here then' only to get a curt 12 noon....no 'don't rush' or 'there's nobody booked for your site' as I have got in other places. A while later I called by my friends. I commented on the wardens grumpiness and they couldn't understand what I was talking about, and they'd been told 2pm! And they'd been told not to panic!
Quite miffed I started packing up about 11am. I didn't rush and I had a coffee break and I wasn't packed by 12...but I had no intention of being packed (especially as I was opposite his office and wanted to be seen). I think I made it off site at 12.45, but I could have left earlier if someone had turned up for my pitch. Of course nobody did.

I went to a site recently where the check in time was 11 am and departure time said no later than 1.30pm...........not quite sure how they worked it at busy times but they ran the site with precision so I guessed it worked for them
I wouldn't stay on a site that had a 10am departure it's too early.
