He was what (grammar?) Inspired me to tour Normandy's WW2 sites. I felt a sadness when I heard of his passing.

From what I've read about him it sounds like he had quite a colourful life!

I was so pleased when he managed to evade the "powers that be" in his bid to get to France. It made a great story, especially in a world when the news is not always good.
