I work abroad all over Europe. We in the UK aint ripped off at all in regards to prices. We have it quite lucky TBH . You only have to hear the amount of French speakers at Ashfords McArthur Glenn shopping center bagging a bargain.
But back on topic ... There is a native American saying about daylight saving ..... Only an idiot would cut a foot off a blanket & sew it on the other end. And think he would have a longer blanket.

We forgot, then I told hubby it was 11.50 and he insisted it was 10.50. As I was looking at the radio controlled clock which had changed itself turned out I was right. Good job we didn't have to be anywhere.

Yes but only a native American would be stupid enough to think the discussion was about having more daylight - vis a vis the longer blanket.

What a long thread on the topic of the clocks going forward , I at first thought when I saw it .
Euro , what side of the road to drive on , the usual England / Scotland debate , etc etc ,,,,
Must have been a pretty quiet news day today ?
Miserly, I personally do get grumpy with dark mornings and the idea of it not getting light till nearly 10am seriously depresses me, should the rule change. As it is, for about five weeks of the school year, our kids are walking on unlit single track roads to school in the mornings and afternoons in the dusk or dark. No pavements, no street lights.
Whilst I appreciate that it's got to be frustrating for those down south, there's a lot of people who book to come up north during the summer and just moan like mad about our long light evenings and very early mornings because they can't sleep. I guess that's one issue of travelling - sometimes one's body clock can't adjust! I never got used to being near the Equator with equal days and nights and even in South Africa in summer it still dot darker earlier than one would want/expect.

I have spent a good few months in Antarctica, that really messes with your sleep patterns. Watching the low sun never quite setting and going the wrong way across the sky is just strange. Also,we used UTC all the time so the clocks never changed wherever we were. Ficklejade,we are up in Mull at the end of April, book us some nice weather please.

I'll try! We could do with some! FYI, it's not a good night at the moment but the last light only faded about half an hour ago (2030) even with the heavy cloud!

Miserly, just spotted another thread on this section of the Forum about weather forecasting - you'll find xc weather can be pretty accurate for here - used by all the fish farm operators etc. They can be a bit out in timing but are very rarely out completely.

Really hoping for a couple of nice birdwatching days and a clear stargazing night or two,but I am not that optimistic.
We are not camping this trip unfortunately, going to have to put up with a big soft bed and a log fire.
