Yep, got my August payslip on Friday and the new Tax Code has now been included, came out with around £100 more than normal, so I am happy with that, of course that will include the back dated amount, so next month I expect it will be around £20 up on what I used to get.
Still better in my pocket than there's as they say.
Every bit helps, and my Tax Code was quite dire being a company car driver, not to worried about that as I claim cough Business Miles back at 14 pence per mike, so I am making hay while the sun shines at the moment with Diesel being so cheap, and driving a firms VW Golf BlueMotion 65mpg being about average.
Like all good things that will soon change, when the Govt amends the claim figures based on today's fuel costs, I need to get plenty of miles in before that happens!

My OH had a letter with his new tax code on. Two weeks later there was a change in his pension so that was another letter. He's got a part time evening job working for a company of around six people. The poor boss is getting confused with all the changes.
I had a pension payslip with my new code on. No other notification.

Yep Kimmie, Mrs Francais ended up making the phone call to HMRC about a month ago as the online application failed, we first applied for the New Married Persons allowance back in April, what a faff.
They said they would post out the paperwork, but we have had nothing in the post as yet, I only new because of the change of Tax Code on my Pay Slip, it now ends with an "M" we're as before it was ending in an "L" I can only gues that "M" means married and the "L" stood for looser!
As for pension, got another 11years to go before one of us hits 66, not 65 as it used to be, my Bro who reach's 65 this November told me that his State Pension will be significantly less than mine, something to do with his date of birth, and that when I reach Pension age it will be called "Universal Credit" what is that all about.

Sure "M" doesnt stand for "mug you later" !!!
I've got a redundancy pension and with OH being that bit older and now on state pension we are managing with me at home. Only another eight years before I get my state pension!!! Well, at the moment it is.
We've been trying to sort his occupational pension since February. After much trial and error on getting information on what the Trustees of the fund will allow he is trying for a short term annuity. The shorter the better. Hopefully this will give the companies out there time to sort out better products for the "buyer". And for those holding the pension fund to sort out what they will allow their scheme members to do.
For all the new government rules we have come up against brick wall after brick wall as to what is allowed with the portion in his pension scheme. Not being very financial savvy we didn't want to have to worry about stocks and shares and what the pot is investsed in.
Its a blooming minefield.

If your code ends in M it means you are receiving 10% of your partners tax allowance and your partners code will end N to indicate that 10% has been transferred to their partner.

Thanks saxo1, I guess the letter that I never received will explain that, but otherwise how is one supposed to know what the "M" stands for.
And whilst I have got you, what do you think the "L" stood for on my previous Tax Code.
As Mrs Francais has not had a Pay Slip since January it could be a while before we get to see her new Tax Code.
Mrs Francais temporary x-mas job with Debenhams ended back in January and she has been desperately seeking employment since then, but having no luck so far, she does sign on each fortnight for JSA but gets diddley squat in payments, but I believe her Stamp gets paid so that she will still get a State Pension in 12 years time.
That extra £20 or so in my pay packet each month, will definitely be of help to us, even though it is such a small amount, every little helps.

L means you are entitled to the basic tax allowance that everyone receives.

Final update from me...
Received notification from my pension provider that my tax code had been changed and no tax taken off this months pension PLUS a nice little tax refund!
Many thanks to Martin Lewis...

Yep, definitely worth going for this new allowance, got my new tax code last month along with the rebate going back to April, which was nice.
This month I am on a flage wage, no Bonus or Overtime, and the New Tax code is giving me about £18 extra take home pay, it's not a lot but better in my pocket than there's.
Mr's Francais is still looking for a job, it's only been a 4 year search!, so every little helps as they say.
Got me fingers crossed though as Mr's Francais has got an interview today, with a National UK retailer, 20hr position, but that's all we need to help keep the wolf from the door.

I have been on a little housing benefit for some time so when my income increased by the £17.60 a month marriage allowance I had to tell the benefits office. Consequently they have reduced my benefits by a similar amount so I haven't really gained financially. Thankfully they didn't backdate the reduction.

Gutted, Mrs Francais just got an email from Argos, they will not be taking her on.
It was only a temporary contract until January, but the poor girl feels so down, I can't explain, after 4 years of trying to find a permanant part time job, she feels like chucking the towel in.
What is wrong with this country, not employing the over 50's it really does make my blood boil!
She is back at the job centre on Friday, a fat lot of help that they have been, but as she does not qualify for JSA, I guess they do not give a dam.
Sorry for the rant.

Thanks Bridgelayer, Mrs Francais was in the interview for a full hour, she was even asked what size uniform would she need, she felt this time that she was in with a chance.
Seems to me, like some employers just go through the motions, to avoid any potential come back.
Mrs Francais is feeling a lot better today, she has picked herself up, and dusted herself down, and will be back on the job hunting horse, first thing Monday morning.
