Has anybody used Booking.Com?
I have seen some apartments I would like to book but I can`t find out if I pay in full or pay them a deposit. Or if I pay the apartments direct when I get there.

I have found the same with Booking.com, in some cases its pay when you arrive.
I agree it is sometimes difficult to understand what the method of payment is.
I have ended up given them a phonecall to find out.
I have used them home and abroad and not had any issues apart from the above.

I have used them regularly for hotels. You reserve with a card through the booking.com website but it doesn't take payment. When you arrive they take payment again - this time they take the money.
Not sure if it is differentfor bnb's but it has been consistently like this for me.

Used it loads of times. It can just be a bit awkward if the 'guest' is not the person actually making the booking, as in business trips etc.
The plus about such as BDC, is that you can cancel right up to the day you go. We saved £260 once. We booked a hotel a year in advance (long story), and by keeping an eye on prices, cancelled, and then immediately re-booked the exact same room in the same hotel THREE times before we actually stayed there. Having reduced the price on each occasion.

I've used several sites after finding the best deals on Trivago. Had no problems with Bookings.com, though I've got the best deals with Amoma.

I use Booking.com all the time for hotels and B&Bs.
For hotels, there is usually a list of choices for rooms and booking options; the cheapest ones are those that require full payment at time of booking and non-refundable.
I tend to choose the reserve room now and pay later option, secure by providing my credit card details. Providing I cancel in good time as stated in the T&C, I would not be charged anything.
I have secure my rooms with Booking.com for my trip to LA in July/August 2016 last October. This way, I have a record of my chosen hotels. Later this year in March/April when more funds will be available, I may change my bookings if cheaper rooms are available by opting the "Pay Now" option.
I have used them to book a B&B in the Cotswolds recently. I can't remember whether I provided my credit card details to secure the room or not at time of booking, however, I received an e-mail from the owner of the B&B requesting for a deposit right away to secure the room.
Can't comment about booking for apartments, as I have reservations about key collection/return etc... Besides, I seldom opt of self-catering holidays except for camping.

Used them lots. They take card details when you book (in case you cancel and there is money to pay) and take the money when you are there. You don't have to pay with the same card you booked with.
Brilliant web-site. There is an app so you can book when travelling.

Used them lots for hotels, most recently for o/n's in Metz, Lucerne, Basel, and Luxembourg City for the run down to Lake Como in June, and back.
The site is good, and the system slick. Never had a problem.
If the property offers it, we tend to use the "pay now, no refund" option - not just because it's cheaper - but because it means that by the time we get there it's been paid months back so there's just usually local tax to pay, or breakfast etc. And we have annual travel insurance if the trip has to be cancelled.
For apartments, we've used Owners Direct, and went via them again for Como. They have reported hacks in the past but we haven't had a problem.

I use booking.com all the time. I always look for deals where you can book now free cancellation and pay when you get there.
The customer services were great when I could not get a response through email to one of the hotels.
I have never bothered using anyone else TBH

used a few times, normally only for a budget stopover hotel sometimes.
normally dont pay till i arrive which is great and the option of a cancellation normally before 6pm on day of arrival is fantastic should I make a scenic detour due to unseen circumstances (aka getting lost).
although i have been waiting a week for conformation of a late check in for august.....

Use them all the time - no problems except once when I input card details which had run out when they tried to confirm it the night before (they still don't take the money then). The hotel rang me and were fine.

I was once advised by a hotel manager to use booking.com or expedia or whoever to find the hotel and then ring them direct because these sites add their 'fee' to the cost of the room they offer to you.
Going direct to the hotel you may get a better deal. I use booking.com etc to shortlist and then call the hotel/bb direct. This has always resulted in the same room cheaper in my experience!
