I collected a piece of "purple rain" which was pieces of purple tissue paper showered onto the audience.
Saved it for ages, until toddler grandson found it and ate it!
Must admit on a purely personal level I expected to be in my late 70s when the heroes of my youth were taken, not in my 50s this year is very sad for the talent we are losing,RIP to all lost so far this year.
Been away from these forums for a while whilst abroad, so catching up with this sad event in mind.
What a year of losses. I worked with Bowie and spent a lot of my teens / 20s in his company. That really hit me back in January and the missus and I visited some of the old haunts the weekend after he died. Some truly lovely places, not what you would expect.
Prince was such a talented musician on many instruments, a seriously amazing guitarist as well as a writer and (not exactly my taste) singer. But he was one of a kind that transgressed genres, rock, funk, blues, soul etc. Sadly, he will not be replaced. I adore the artists that are not stuck in a genre - thank god Lenny Kravitz is still with us!
So, this year, starting today my "Little Red Corvette" in my profile pics is going back on the road after a long lay up.
RIP his Royal Purpleness.
