Dealer is having problems resolving an issue with excess road and wind noise coming from where the rear sliding door meets the central pillar. It is on the drivers side and is much worse when windy or raining.
Are there any Grand C Max owners out there that have experienced this problem and can maybe shine the light as to the cause and what was done to fix it?
The car has been with them 8 days and as at this afternoon they can't solve the problem despite fitting a new door seal.
The car is only 9 months old and I've had it 5 months.
Hi Mick S - It was noticed a few weeks after buying the car when on a motorway run in the wet. Thought it was just me as my son took the car out and said it was fine but it was dry and not windy when he tested.
Round the streets it's not so noticeable when the roads are dry.
We tried to get it seen to in May before our trip to France but they could not fit us in.
The long drive to France drove me to distraction.
Not sure how long the dealer is going to hang onto the car before chucking the towel in.
I know it isn't a Ford but my ceed started getting excessive wind noise from the passenger wing mirror.
When I was folding in the mirrors for a carwash I noticed the casing had popped slightly and the wind must have been whistling through the crack. You couldn't see until you were up close but this was enough to make a lot of noise.
Maybe you have a bit of trim or a handle loose..
Thanks for the suggestions -
I'v looked at the seals prior to the car going in - they looked a loose fit but not sure if that was standard.
Checked the Owners websites - someone suggested fitting wind deflectors which I may consider for £45 if all else fails.
One owner had his car in for 10 days and the dealer waived the white flag. The owner was going to contact Ford to seek redress.
I aim to do a test drive on a demo when I go to the dealer and discuss options with the sales/service manager as to what options are available next
Just had a call from the dealer - problem traced to Ford fitted roof rails. They say that they took them off and the noise disappeared.
Thought Ford would have designed them better to avoid turbulence at speed and in wet and windy weather that creates excessive noise in the cabin.
Scared to get a roof box now in case that adds to the problem of turbulence noise.
I will pick up the car tomorrow and get someone to drive me around to test if the passenger side sounds the same. My wife has always said she heard nothing out of the ordinary.
