It is advisable to always get a second opinion from another company. Most good companies are happy to advise correctly and not all companies are just after making money for unnecessary work. If you have any doubt about a company's advice you can go elsewhere. Like all trades and tradesmen there are different opinions on best course of action to resolve issues, does not mean they are out to rip you off.

I'm not a plumber, though I have installed new heating radiators in a couple of houses. I'm very dubious about blocked pipes! After a period of not using the heating, I've certainly come upon TRV's sticking and stopping radiators working. I've had to balance radiators because one or more wouldn't heat - but I've never encountered a blocked pipe.
