No courgettes - bit ironic as I have an allotment and grow loads - to the point that we have too many. Don't normally eat out of season but noticed there aren't any anywhere!!

Could be the very hungry caterpillar?

I have a large garden mainly laid to lawn and could grow my own veg but every time I think about it I realise that as soon as I dig a bed in the lawn I will have a job for the rest of my life weeding it!!

I might try a few spuds this year and maybe some tomatoes in grow bags.

Sounds a good idea...even better if they can get the potatoes to grow on the stems so you can just pick the odd one for your dinner without having to dig.
