Always best to get a good boot fitter and take their recommendations.
I had been wearing Scarpa Terra for many years in a size 6.5. When I went to buy another pair, the fitter told me he did not think they were the right size and that my feet could have changed over the years. I ignored him and bought the same as before.
Big mistake and daughter benefited from my mistake.
I went back to the shop and bought a pair of Meindl which the fitter said would be a better fit for my foot shape and they are really lovely.
Modern boots should be able to be worn straight out of the box, but worth doing a few miles first just in case.
